Q: IS IT IMPORTANT TO KNOW YOUR HVAC CONTRACTOR?A: HVAC systems make up a major part of your home comfort. The most common issue that homeowners experience is HVAC related. Having the HVAC contractor familiar with your home system and with you will give you peace of mind when you have to call him at 1 AM because there is a problem with your heating system. Knowing your HVAC contractor’s workmanship and knowledgeability makes you feel comfortable with the diagnosis they provide on any issues they have found. Trust goes a long way.

Q: IS AN ANNUAL SERVICE ON A FURNACE A NECESSITY?A: Getting that annual service on your HVAC equipment is something that should be done yearly in the spring/ beginning of summer. Paying that annual fee of a yearly service on your heating equipment can save you in the long run. It can almost eliminate those late-night service call fees. Have your furnace serviced to ensure that it’s running effectively and efficiently. You don't want to be left in cold in the winter.
-
Q: HOW OFTEN SHOULD I BE CHANGING MY AIR FILTERS ON MY FURNACE?5A: Changing your air filters with the change of each season is a good habit to get into. Starting with a fresh clean air filter each season can help improve your indoor air quality and efficiency of your equipment. If you suffer from allergies such as dust changing it more frequently than four times a year would benefit, also using a specialized filter can trap dust and allergens.
-
Q: IF I CLOSE MY VENTS IN AN UNOCCUPIED ROOM WILL THIS HELP WITH MY HEATING BILLS?A: This is actually not an effective solution. Closing the vents in the unoccupied rooms only causes your furnace to work harder and be even less efficient. Your HVAC system will work harder in order to create an even temperature around the house. Keeping your vents open allows for the equal temperature to be distributed throughout your home and keeps your system running efficiently.

Q: MY HOUSE IS TO DRY IN THE WINTER. HOW DO I HUMIDIFY IT?A: There are different pieces of equipment for different applications but typically, for your standard ducted furnace, you can use a flow-through humidifier or a more efficient fan-assisted humidifier that hooks up to your furnace.
